A leading global children's charity in the UK is looking for a Head of Internal Communications. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this is an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and implementing an effective internal communications strategy.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To develop and deliver complex, internal communications strategies that align with the broader communications strategies and input into the overall strategies
  • To work with the executive team to develop co-ordinated communications campaigns to assist the organisations in meeting its strategic objectives and drive change
  • To measure the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an on-going basis and make recommendations to review and amend the strategy as appropriate
  • To represent the charity at senior level discussions, advising on communications plans, strategy and any communications challenges and issues that may arise
  • To work with the Human Resources departments to improve staff engagement
  • To ensure messages from senior management and the Board are properly reflected in communications to internal stakeholders
  • To be responsible for managing internal communications channels including writing e newsletters, team briefs and organising open sessions and drafting/editing key internal presentations
  • To play a leading role in redeveloping and improving the intranet as a key internal communications tool, working alongside the Intranet Content Manager
  • To play a key role in organising the annual staff conference, and manage internal communications around the AGM and other key internal meetings
  • To line manage members of the internal communications team
  • To regularly report on internal communications activity as required to senior management
  • To manage the internal communications budget and approve all invoices

The successful candidate will have considerable experience leading on internal communications for large complex public or charity sector organisations. Experience of managing communications around large scale complex change programmes is extremely desirable. You will have strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, ability to work with all stakeholders, and to motivate and inspire. You will have excellent verbal and written skills, and experience of social media.
