EMR are working with one of the world's leading IP and Research led companies to recruit an External Communications Manager to grow the company's Legal and Brand Protection brands' visibility and brand, whilst using their excellent PR skills to protect reputation.

Reporting into the Head of External Communications, the External Communications Manager will work with media outlets, bloggers, communities and membership bodies to support the Legal and Brand Protection strategy. They will also manage the PR agency, monitor communications activity and report on results and make recommendations.

Finally, they will create engaging thought leadership content to support external communications and engagement, for examples: blogs, social media, video, infographics and pitches.

As External Communications Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an external communications strategy, to grow and protect the Legal and Brand Protection brands, and support the wider business
  • Review and align communications across social media and external media outlets, working with the marketing team to ensure a consistent approach
  • Nurture and develop relationships with key influencers in the technology, legal and brand protection sectors
  • Create and deliver on a communications calendar to ensure regular publication of press releases, blogs, articles etc.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure content is refined for SEO e.g. key words, organic content, links etc.
  • Create and publish engaging, key-audience led content across a range of media using your access to the senior leadership team and subject matter experts: press releases, blogs, social media, video, infographics, editorials, and pitches
  • Help to develop a crisis communications plan and handle media enquiries

Your key skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent PR or Communications experience in Legal, Brand, Intellectual Property (IP) and/or trademark sectors is essential
  • Strong media contacts in a relevant industry
  • Experience of developing and delivering a communications and PR plan in a similar B2B organisation
  • Excellent content creation skills across multiple disciplines: social media, blogs, press releases, editorials, video
