Regional BD role with an innovative HR and tech consultancy to drive pipeline, strengthen SME relationships and brand presence.

A dominant consultancy focusing on SMEs in London and the South East has created this role to provide partner and colleague support for our active and evolving Essex office, a strategically important location for client and business growth. This would suit someone passionate about winning the right work, is professional and articulate and can engage clients and colleagues to drive wins.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the sales cycle, with a focus on targeting prospects to growing and developing a sustainable regional new business opportunity pipeline.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with partners and colleagues to develop and implement BD strategies for the Essex office with the overall aim to acquire new clients
  • Lead, attend and/or support monthly office BD meetings
  • Develop, drive, project-manage and evaluate ROI for BD & Marketing campaigns
  • Working with partners, directors and managers to develop and progress their pipelines through the sales process
  • Schedule appointments with prospective clients utilising multiple communication channels (telephone, emarketing and social media)
  • Identify, build and manage a substantial and sustainable multi-service new business pipeline
  • Source new businesses with the aim of establishing profitable long term client relationships
  • Identify referral and cross selling opportunities and engage with other areas of the Firm to include services and sector teams as and where appropriate
  • Be a key point of contact for all clients and prospects' queries during the sales process
  • Develop strategic relationships with intermediaries (banks, lawyers, industry associations and independent financial advisers)
  • Develop and produce collateral needed to support local BD activity
  • Liaise with partners to design and organise events which provide opportunities to deepen relationships with clients and meet new business owners
  • Monitor competitor activity in the local area
  • Use sector expertise and insight to position the firm appropriately within the market
  • Work with partners and the Marketing Manager to set and manage office BD & Marketing budgets
  • Liaise with colleagues in order to share knowledge and co-ordinate activity
  • Ensure the corporate identity and brand profile is consistent throughout all marketing collateral, communications and events
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Executive to maintain the office web page and encourage social media activity

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Roughly five years' BD experience or equivalent and strong networking skills
  • A mature approach to intelligent business development coupled with a positive and tenacious attitude
  • Experience of working in a consultative environment with partners and senior managers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in presenting opinions to senior personnel
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience of compiling a BD plan and researching sales opportunities
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritise
  • Experience in identifying, building and managing sales pipelines
  • Demonstrated evidence of contributing to closing a number of significant client deals, preferably in Professional Services
  • Experience of working in a professional firm, ideally a partnership
