EMR are working with one of the UK's leading law firms to recruit an innovative Head of Internal Communications to lead on the development and implementation of an engaging group-wide internal communications strategy.

As Head of Internal Communications, you will have a strong track record in leading best in class internal communications in a fast-paced business. You will also have the ability to drive change in the business, influence key senior decision makers, create new initiatives and look to use the latest technologies and channels to improve communication.

In the role your main responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development of and implement a group-wide internal communications strategy that supports delivery of the group's overall strategic objectives
  • Translate the strategy into messages and activities that are relevant at a departmental and individual level.
  • Create diverse, inspired, informative and innovative communication channels across all media
  • Lead a small but high performing team with longer term succession options
  • Work with senior leaders to deliver internal communications to improve employee engagement scores, ensuring senior leaders have the tools and knowledge to take accountability for their own departmental communications
  • Work closely with the Media and External Communications Team to ensure alignment of message
  • Lead the development of communications plans and content to support major business announcements or updates, or the work of the Senior Executive Team
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of plans and collateral to support new initiatives, and our strategic narrative, such as newsletters, Yammer, articles and campaigns

Your key skills and experience will include:

  • Strong track record in leading innovative internal communications in a fast-paced business
  • A proven ability to translate strategy into engaging, insightful communications that inspire colleagues to communicate with each other
  • The ability to constructively challenge and push for change, new initiatives and a modern and collaborative approach to communications delivery
  • Technical knowledge of HRIS and social platforms. Past experience of SharePoint and Yammer would be highly beneficial.
  • Consistent evidence of effectively influencing at all levels, being able to build a critical mass of support for an idea they care about and then leading through others to implement it
  • The ability to combine strategy and delivery. Strategic thinking is great and must be combined with an ability to roll up the sleeves to get things done - it's a small team that needs to have a big impact
  • A passion for, and experience, of supporting employee engagement, the two-way conversation, authenticity, clarity and plain English
  • The ability to build and lead a high performing team
  • Skills to manage a wide range of communication plans and initiatives with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
