Aetna Case Study

Senior Director, Brand Strategy & Communications 


Aetna is an American managed health care company, which sells traditional and consumer directed health care insurance plans and related services. The role was to be based in Aetna’s UK operation in Farnborough, Hampshire.

EMR already had a strong relationship with Aetna through working on a number of roles for the business in 2015, successfully placing a senior contractor within a key project. With our team being aware of a potential new opening in the business and the knowledge they would be open to hearing from strong candidates we touched based to discuss their requirements.

After discussing the role our consultants met with a senior candidate who was searching for a new contract or permanent role in the market at the time. The candidate lived locally to Aetna and had good health insurance experience, gained at Aviva. With this knowledge we proactively shared this candidate with the VP of Marketing at Aetna.

Following the initial conversation Aetna had been recruiting internally and had some candidates in the process. The VP of marketing was keen on the candidate’s profile, and fast tracked the candidate through the interview process. During this period EMR also proactively advertised the role which brought in additional interest from the market. However, the initial candidate put forward had already impressed the team at Aetna and with the ability to start swiftly was shortly offered the position. From start to finish this process took 6 weeks.
