Within the technology, media and telecoms sector we’ve witnessed a clear rise in international businesses looking to build their presence in the EMEA region and open offices in the UK. With the growth of the tech sector in the UK and particularly within tech city, tech, media and telecoms businesses are seeing the importance of having offices based within the European market.

This growing trend has opened up new opportunities for marketers as businesses look to raise their brand profiles across the new regions, creating a wealth of new roles across the sector. In particular, we’ve experienced a rise in such businesses looking to recruit middle management and senior level experts to grow their UK marketing and digital departments and increase brand awareness.

As with the majority of business sectors we continue to see high demand for marketers with niche and specialist digital skills as online consumer trends continue to grow. To keep up with the demand, digital expertise is a must for most marketing teams and certainly a key requirement we’re seeing from our clients.

From a candidate perspective we’ve actually witnessed a slight dip in activity over the last few months.  However, this movement is quite typical of seasonal recruitment trends. At EMR we anticipate this will pick up in the coming months as marketing professionals again begin looking out for new opportunities. To attract the experts they need to grow in a slow period businesses must take proactive steps to access and tap into the passive audience.

On the whole the market is booming with new opportunities for marketing and digital experts as companies are now beginning to fill in the gaps which have developed through the recruitment freezes put in place over the past few years.

However, in the current market demand is outstripping supply causing a real battle amongst businesses to attract new talent.
