EMR's magnificent seven to run the London Marathon

12/12/2014

Seven of the finest physical specimens at EMR will take part in next year’s Virgin London Marathon in aid of our charity partner, St John Ambulance.

Aaron Walker, Daniella Pash, Ethan Tattersfield, James Scholfield, Jen Hart, Paul Webb and Rachel Hodgetts will don their running shoes for one of the most famous 26-mile treks in the world on Sunday, 26th April 2015. Their target: to raise over £10,000 for the renowned first aid charity.

Training has begun in earnest and Rachel will be using the valuable experience she gained from completing the Dundee Running Adventure Marathon earlier this year to help her team through this massive challenge. “I have been through the physical and mental training that’s necessary to prepare for completing a marathon, as well as the diet and lifestyle changes you need to make in the months before,” she said.

But, Rachel adds, the support process has very much been a two-way street: “Hopefully it’s been useful for them but it’s also been great for me, as I have learnt a lot from the hints and tips they have picked up over the last six weeks we have been training. “We are all sharing our training plans and advice and helping each other.”

The team will also be running (if you’ll pardon the pun) a number of other initiatives to help them reach the magic number, including a charity auction and an office raffle.

St John Ambulance aims to equip people with the first aid skills to save lives. Its network of volunteers provides first aid at public events, as first responders or as back-up to local ambulance services.

Any support is more than welcome as we look to provide crucial backing for this extremely worthwhile cause, so if you’d like to make a donation, please visit the team’s JustGiving page.

The big day once again is 26th April 2015. If you have that Sunday spare, feel free to come along and cheer our runners over the finishing line!
