A large student union based in London is looking for an interim Marketing and Communications Coordinator to come on board ASAP for a 3 month period with the potential to go permanent.

People orientated and student led, the union are a professional community of individuals who work collaboratively, look for the best in others and invest in training, development and having fun together. They are friendly, helpful and respectful, recognise and applaud success, and look out for and support each other. They champion equality, celebrate diversity and make sure that the union is a welcoming and safe place for everyone.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator would be responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communications plans for all union service areas to increase awareness, engagement and satisfaction of its members.

The 3 key areas of responsibility are:

  1. Development and delivery of high quality marketing plans
  2. Innovation and creativity
  3. Relationship Management

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • Professional Marketing qualification (desirable)

Experience

  • Experience of working in a busy marketing and communications team
  • Experience of a range of marketing disciplines including; advertising, direct marketing, digital, customer service, events, membership marketing and experiential marketing
  • Experience of developing and delivering marketing and communications plans I a commercial context
  • Experience of writing copy for a variety of online and offline channels and to a range of audiences
  • Experience of using databases to segment and target customers/members
  • Experience of working within brand guidelines
  • Experience of involvement with a membership organisation is desirable

Knowledge

  • Awareness of current issues in higher education
  • Awareness of the role of marketing commercial services within a students' Union
  • Awareness of current social media trends within higher education and membership organisations

Skills

  • Ability to work as part of a team, working cross-organisationally with a range of people
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Independent and proactive, being able to work without close supervision
  • Able to build appropriate relationships with relevant partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage work time effectively and prioritise projects appropriately
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
