BD and Marketing role with an award-winning international legal practice.

An award-winning international law firm which prides itself on its entrepreneurial and efficient way of working would like to improve the client win and retention ratios and build the international profile of the Dispute Resolution and Competition practices. Working alongside the BD Director you will drive quality of output, service and relationships within and beyond the practice and M&BD teams. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of a BD and communications plan for the department, so strong stakeholder management will be crucial.

Role Précis:

  • Drive the positioning of the brand through client service and thought leadership
  • Create and manage the strategic business plans at a client, partner, sector and practice group-level
  • Manage the firm's key client relationship and client listening programmes
  • Manage our relationships with the media and seeks out the most appropriate opportunities
  • Create and implement the firm's digital strategy
  • Provide strategic advice and co-ordination on pitching opportunities and manage the rehearsal process
  • Work with the research centre to produce and analyse companies, sectors and countries
  • Work with the Head of Communications and Senior Marketing Manager to ensure effective use of all communication channel
  • Manage the production of bulletins and briefings from the conceptual stage through to distribution
  • Provide strategic advice and day-to-day support to partners in the department in relation to the wide range of BD initiatives they undertake
  • Implement a range of targeting and cross-selling initiatives in support of our departmental and sector foci
  • Be a contributor to the vision and strategy of the BD function, assist with BD projects/cross-selling of the BD function within the firm
  • Work with partners to identify, facilitate, track and monitor the pursuit of significant new business opportunities
  • Deliver events that enhance the brand and provide opportunities to build relationships with clients, potential clients, intermediaries and the press
  • Work with the PSL team on submissions to the main legal directories/awards and advise practices on how best to promote their capabilities

Person Specification:

  • Appreciable experience working in a BD role in a professional services firm
  • Thorough understanding of the litigation market
  • Commercially astute with a track record of growing existing and new business
  • Proficient systems skills (experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience in Interaction would be ideal
  • Able to build strong effective relationships with partners, associates and colleagues at all levels
  • Able to drive forward objectives and actions of the BD team to meet the commercial needs of the firm
  • Creates a strong sense of belonging within a group
  • Encourages consideration of solutions to problems
  • Commands respect from others
  • A creative, lateral thinker; intelligent and commercially-minded
