Warner Bros could create marketing jobs


Iconic American producer of film, television, and music entertainment Warner Bros could create marketing jobs in the UK at its Leavesden site, following a £100 million investment that took place last year.

The studio - which is where the hugely successful Harry Potter series of films were made - recently welcomed Princes William and Harry, and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge to its official opening following the redevelopment.

A study by the London School of Economics found that Warner Bros' spend on salaries, National Insurance contributions, marketing, advertising and infrastructure is worth roughly £1.2 billion a year to the UK economy, reports the Telegraph - a figure that will only rise following the expansion of its headquarters.

Warner Bros is one of the most iconic brands in the world, with its instantly recognisable logo and string of hit properties - the studio moved from silent film to musicals to cartoons such as Loony Tunes in the early 20th century, before building up an empire that includes the Batman films and popular TV shows like Dawson's Creek.

Its UK chief Josh Berger told the Daily Telegraph the firm hopes to take advantage of the glut of creative talent that can be seen throughout the UK.

"Literally thousands of world-class craftsmen and women collaborated on creating one of the most successful and profitable British exports of our generation - Harry Potter," he pointed out.

Chancellor George Osborne also welcomed the news that Warner Bros is to invest in the country, stressing that this shows confidence in the UK's thriving creative sector.

"Film, television and games production is exactly the kind of innovative, creative industry at which the UK excels. This government is determined to support creative talent, and make sure the UK is the number one destination for the creative industries," declared the chancellor.
